4/29/01 "NAPOLEAN" BEGINS FILMING IN HUNGARY AUGUST The mini-series, Napolean, starring Christian Clavier in the title role and co-produced by Depardieu (Depardieu has a small role as minister of police Fouche) will begin principle shooting in Hungary in August. Isabella Rossellini is confirmed for the role of Josephine. Sophia Loren and Kenneth Branagh are in negotiations for parts as well. Here's the news article (thanks to Vicki).

4/20/01 "NAPOLEAN" COURTING KENNETH BRANAGH Depardieu has asked his friend, the British actor Kenneth Branagh, to play the role of Tsar Alexander in the mini-series Napolean. The press has reported this as a done deal (see Ananova article), but according to a KB fan site, the role is still in negotiations. Sounds like are getting close to filming this puppy. If they do get Isabella Rossallini (see news from 3/30) as well as Branagh it should make for a major production. Thanks to Vicki for this news article link.
4/15/01 DEPARDIEU PERE ET FILS TO STAR IN NEW MOVIE "HONOR THY FATHER" Gérard and his son, Guillaume Depardieu, will be making a film together playing father and son. The film's director is Jacob Berger who directs French TV. Jean-Pierre Gerin, producer of The Count of Monte Cristo and Les Misérables, will produce. Though the plot has not been revealed, the film will supposedly show the emotions of a complex father-son relationship. The film is slated to start shooting in September. Here's a news link. 4/15/01 "LE PLACARD" FINDS US DISTRIBUTOR Miramax has bought the rights to distribute Le Plaçard in the US and Canada. The film was a hit in France, where it has grossed $26 million.
