2/23/01 BENEATH THE BANYON TREES Another new film has been announced. Depardieu will play in Matt Dillon's directorial debut, Beneath the Banyon Trees. Dillon plays a con-artist who goes to Cambodia to collect on an insurance scam but gets more than he bargained for. 2/23/01 ASTERIX: MISSION CLEOPATRA TO HIT US!! Depardieu fans were disappointed that Asterix and Obelix never hit US shores, apparently because there was doubt that the movie -- aimed at kids and families -- would be able to reach its audience with subtitles. But according to movies.com, the sequel is definitely coming to US theaters. See article. The plot involves a bet Cleopatra makes with Caesar that she can build a palace in 3 months. Thanks Vicki!
2/23/01 ELIZABETH OF BATHORY PIC According to The Sun and The Express, Depardieu is in talks to appear in a film about the blood-bathing Medieval beauty, Elizabeth of Bathory, starring CHER and Angelica Huston.
