Cannes Film Festival 2001 was a quieter event for Depardieu, especially compared to last year when Vatel was the festival's opening film. This year there is a Depardieu film at Cannes, shown out of competition. It's C.Q., the Roman Coppola directed pic. Depardieu was attended, not to do PR for the film, but for the screening of the new version of Apocalypse Now. Good thing, too. What would Cannes be without GD?
